Ashraf Ramzy has that rare combination of qualities that allow him to function successfully in a demanding field, yet at the same time a mind capable of reflection.
As coordinator of research group, here at NIAS, on the theme of “The Reception of Forms of American Mass Culture”, I have come to think highly of Mr. Ashraf Ramzy. Through his contributions, written as well as oral, to our deliberations, our group has come to know a man who has that rare combination of qualities – a highly practical mind, and a quick wit that allow him to function successfully in a demanding professional field, yet at the same time a mind capable of reflection and interpretation. In other words, a combination of the practical and the theoretical, in constant cross – fertilization. He was a delight to listen to – his insights are fresh and provocative; his command of English is remarkable. He is a man with the capacity to function well in any number of settings under any pressures or constraints. He has my full endorsement.
